Terms of Service

Last updated October 17, 2026

Good ideas.
A few ground rules.

These terms apply when you use STEVE at stevecad.studio, including the sign-in service at auth.stevecad.studio. You accept them by ticking the box on STEVE's "Before you start" page, and you have to accept them before you use STEVE.

STEVE is a project, not a commercial product. It isn't sold or offered as a commercial service, and it comes with no guarantees. Expect changes, downtime and the occasional lost design. Always check generated geometry and programs before you make anything from them. You run your machines, and you're responsible for what your AI does.

01About these terms

"STEVE", "we" and "us" mean the people who run the STEVE project at stevecad.studio. "You" means the person using it. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and is part of these terms.

Only a person can accept these terms, for themselves. An AI agent, app or script can't accept them for you. We keep a record of when you accepted which version, also after you delete your account, as our Privacy Policy explains.

02Not a commercial product

STEVE is an experimental, early-stage project. It is not a commercial product or service. It isn't sold, licensed or offered for commercial use, and using it doesn't make you a customer or create a contract for services. STEVE is free.

STEVE is offered for experimentation and feedback. We may add, change or remove features, reset data, limit usage, or pause or end the project at any time, sometimes without notice. There's no uptime guarantee, no service level, and no support commitment. Don't rely on STEVE for commercial, production or business-critical work.

03Your account

  • You must be at least 16 to use STEVE.
  • You sign in with a Google or X account. Keep that account secure, because anyone who controls it can get into your STEVE account.
  • Give accurate information, and don't create accounts for other people or share yours.
  • Tell us right away at @10_X_eng on X if you think someone else has accessed your account.

04Your designs

You own what you make. Your designs, prompts, files and documents ("your content") belong to you.

You give us permission to store, process, copy and display your content only as needed to run STEVE for you, for example saving your work, rendering it and sending requests to the AI provider you choose for STEVE's assistant. We don't share your content with other users or publish it.

When you send a bug report or feature request, you also let us and our AI tools use it to troubleshoot, fix and improve STEVE, as our Privacy Policy describes.

We may use your designs to troubleshoot STEVE using AI services, without asking you first. Any other use of a design is authorized by you: your designs are never shared for any purpose other than troubleshooting the platform, unless you share them yourself. Our Privacy Policy explains both.

When you use AI with your designs, through STEVE's assistant on your own key or an AI client you connect, your design goes to that AI service under your agreement with them. Refer to your agreement with that AI service provider for how they handle it.

You're responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to use anything you upload. Keep your own backups; STEVE isn't a backup service.

05AI-generated output

STEVE uses AI to write CadQuery code and generate geometry. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable, even when it looks right.

  • Check everything: dimensions, tolerances, fits, materials and strength, before you manufacture, print or rely on a design.
  • STEVE is not engineering, safety or professional advice and doesn't replace review by a qualified person.
  • Don't use STEVE output for safety-critical parts (for example structural, pressure-bearing, medical, automotive or aerospace parts) without independent engineering verification.

As far as the law allows, you own the output STEVE generates for you, in the same way as your other content. Similar requests from other people may produce similar output.

06Acceptable use

Don't use STEVE to:

  • break the law, or design weapons, weapon components or anything intended to cause harm;
  • infringe someone else's intellectual property or upload content you don't have rights to;
  • probe, scan, attack or overload our systems, or get around access controls or rate limits;
  • access other users' accounts or data;
  • scrape STEVE, or use automated tools against it other than through the Steve API, MCP or a connector within their published limits;
  • resell or provide STEVE to others without our permission.

If you find a security issue, please tell us privately in a direct message to @10_X_eng on X instead of exploiting it.

07API, apps and connectors

You can use STEVE from your own software with the Steve API, connect apps other people built, and connect your own machines with a connector. These are allowed ways to use STEVE, within their published limits. While they are new, they need an invitation.

  • Keys. API keys and app secrets are yours to keep secret. Anyone who has one can act with it. Revoke a key you think has leaked. We may limit, suspend or revoke keys and apps that break these terms or put STEVE or other people at risk.
  • Apps you build. An app may act in someone's workspace only with the scopes that person allowed, and only for what they asked of it. You're responsible for what your app does. People can disconnect an app at any time.
  • Apps you connect. An app someone else built is theirs, not ours. Connect only apps you trust, and allow only the scopes they need.
  • Connectors and your machines. You run your connector and decide which machines it serves and what it may do. STEVE sends signed programs and requests to it; whether and how they run on your machines is up to you and your connector. Check every program before you run it. You're responsible for your machines and what they make.

08Machines and programs

Running machines is dangerous. CNC machines, 3D printers, lasers and other equipment can break, ruin parts and property, start fires or hurt people, even when everything looks right.

  • You're the operator. A program from STEVE runs on your machine because you, or an AI or connector you set up, chose to run it. You're responsible for running it safely.
  • Check before you run. Check the post-processor and controller settings, tools and holders, work offsets, workholding, feeds and speeds, stock and clearances. Simulate the program, run it first above the part or one block at a time, and stay at the machine with the emergency stop in reach.
  • Checks aren't guarantees. STEVE's checks, verifications and simulations help you find problems. They don't promise that a program is correct or won't crash, and a program that passes them can still damage a machine or hurt someone.

The first time a program goes to one of your machines through STEVE, we ask you to confirm you understand this.

09AI and apps acting for you

You can let AI agents (STEVE's assistant, and AI clients you connect over MCP) and apps act in your account. What they do through your account is done for you, and you're responsible for it as if you'd done it yourself: editing or deleting designs, sending programs to machines, setting up connectors, and sending things to other services.

  • Other services. When you connect another service (for example an ERP, a fabricator or another MCP server), what STEVE or an AI sends there, and any order placed there, is between you and that service, under its terms. We're not part of that agreement.
  • Purchases. An AI buys things only if you allow it in STEVE. You choose whether it asks you first or buys without asking up to a limit you set. Orders it places are real orders, paid with your money.
  • Automatic mode. If you turn it on, AI agents set up your connectors and allow their actions without asking you each time.

Keep an eye on what your AI does, and turn off anything you don't want it to do.

10Export-controlled and sensitive data

Don't upload or create content that is classified, export-controlled (for example under ITAR or EAR), or otherwise restricted, and don't upload confidential third-party data. STEVE isn't built or authorized for that kind of information.

11Our service

STEVE's software, design and branding belong to us. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using STEVE as described here. We welcome feedback; if you send ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.

12Suspension and closing

You can stop using STEVE at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put STEVE or other users at risk, and we may end the project. Where we reasonably can, we'll give notice so you can export your work.

13Disclaimers

STEVE is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that STEVE will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that your content won't be lost.

14Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or business, or for damage caused by anything made from STEVE output, by machines running programs from STEVE (including damage to machines, tools, parts, materials or other property, and injuries), or by what AI agents and apps do through your account, including orders and purchases. Our total liability for any claim relating to STEVE is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as your local law permits.

15Your responsibility for claims

As far as the law allows, you agree to defend and compensate the people who run STEVE against claims, damages, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your use of STEVE, your content, anything made from STEVE output, machines you run with programs from STEVE, or what AI agents and apps do through your account.

16Changes

We may update these terms as STEVE develops. We'll change the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll ask you to accept the updated terms in STEVE before you continue. Until you do, AI clients and apps may stop working with your account. Other changes take effect when they're posted.
